NaPoWriMo

April is National Poetry Writing Month. Last year, because I was trying to get back in touch with my poetess side, I wrote a haiku everyday, hence the 5-7-5 section. (I also wrote haiku because NaPoWriMo inspires A LOT of terrible poetry and at least when a haiku is bad, it’s over before you realize it.) This year, I don’t think I want to do that, at least not solely. I’m still figuring out what I want to do for it but for yesterday and today’s entry, I want to do songs.

Left & Leaving, The Weakerthans

“I’m trying not to wonder where you are” is one of the best lines ever written in any song, ever. Just objectively speaking.
Also, “I wait in 4/4 time” is brilliant.

We Get On, Kate Nash

“I don’t even have an opinion on that tramp you are still seeing.”
Echo what I said about The Weakerthans line.

In other news, 2 more weeks and 2 days until this nightmare is over.

About J.

A former twentysomething with a head full of curls and heart full of questions wondering: when we get to nirvana, will there be food?
