Yesterday was a much needed dose of fantastic

I’m very lucky that Erin, the owner of Vt, not only created a position for me, but is also incredibly supportive of me learning everything I can in the food world.

“You want to come in on Sunday and learn how to stuff tortellini?”
“I want you to go learn to farm. I would if I could.”
“I don’t want you to get stuck here.”

And the tasks she laid out for me are diverse, including photography, PR, inventory, keeping up with emerging food trends, and potentially creating and running a new intern program for high school students. I can have exactly as much work as I want. 🙂

It’s nice to know that my big mouth and obsessive nature pay off.

Fun fact: In doing research on tourism in LA, I came across these two things that I think are incredibly cool and can’t believe I’d never heard of them before: Melting Pot and Accomplice.

After yesterday’s trial run, I went to the Roxy. Noreen, who I know from Agape and who also studied dance at my university (though she left before I switched majors), is in a group called BG5. BG5 is connected to the Kardashians (Kris was their manager and now I think Rob is). They had a free show that was being filmed for an episode of Khloé & Lamar and Noreen asked me to come out and put me on the list. And obviously, since Khloé is the best Kardashian, I went.

I got there at 8. Show started at 8:30. They were done by 9.
I felt sorry for the people I met who had been there since 5, but considering that that portion of the episode will probably be about 2 minutes, there’s really no need from a production standpoint for them to put on a full show that they’re just going to edit out.

Fun fact: After you sign the release form consenting to be on the show, you’re photographed holding it before they allow you inside. Smart move.

The show was short but it was a good time. The girls were gorgeous–they could be called the 0% Body Fat 5–and really fun to watch. I didn’t see Khloé, but I did see Lamar and Rob.

After the show, Noreen invited me to come out with the girls to Big Wangs in NoHo, but as I started heading there, I kept yawning, and considering how north North Hollywood is, I decided to call it a night. So I drove home and ate the leftover smoked salmon that KC was going to throw out.

I also found out that my friend Natalie had her baby boy Monday night. The things you miss when you give up Facebook.

So all in all, a great day. Maybe the ides of March get a bad rap.

About J.

A former twentysomething with a head full of curls and heart full of questions wondering: when we get to nirvana, will there be food?
