Let me explain to you why I think that is so funny.
I’ve been brushing up on my Italian the last few days via learnitalianpod and I just came across lesson 47 which has the following dialogue:
Come va con la tua nuova ragazza?
Non molto bene.
Come mai?
Io voglio lasciare Sara.
E perché?
Perché quando apre la bocca, mi cadono le braccia!
Translation:
How’s it going with your new girlfriend?
Not so good.
How come?
I want to leave Sara.
And why?
Because when she opens her mouth, my arms fall down.
His arms fall down! Can’t you just picture it??? I had to pause the podcast and laugh for a minute straight.
Reminds me of another colloquialism in Spanish, when you can’t stand someone you say, “Me cae gordo.” Literally, he falls me fat. He falls me fat!
Come on!
(I obviously have not left the house in days.)
