Oh you know, no big deal…

Omg omg omg omg omg…

You have to apply and then be accepted and then you get to register so this could be much ado about nothing, but still. So cool! I wouldn’t have thought that I would be qualified to go since I didn’t invent water or anything but, they have a category for foodies!! Thankfully for me, they want to keep the audience diverse.

The last question they ask you is

“How do you feel you could contribute to TEDxManhattan “Changing the Way We Eat”?

My answer: I went to a grocery store tonight and saw a bag of chocolate chips. I’d been meaning to pick some up so I was glad to see them, but I couldn’t buy them. They weren’t fair trade.
As I walked to the parking lot, I thought, “I want more people to understand why I made that choice.” But wanting to educate means wanting to be more educated. I could contribute to TED by being interested and passionate and open-minded and excited and inquisitive. I could also bring donuts.”

About J.

A former twentysomething with a head full of curls and heart full of questions wondering: when we get to nirvana, will there be food?
