A proper Thanksgiving post

Well, of course we have to start with the food.

I have just never been much of a fan of traditional Thanksgiving food. I find it so dull or, in the case of stuffing/dressing and anything to do with green beans, outright disgusting and dry heave inducing.

Moving on…

My list of 25 things that I am thankful for:

  1. My degree of health
  2. My parents’ degrees of health
  3. Having a place to live
  4. My growing love of food*
  5. The people I love who love me
  6. My iPod/MacBook/digital camera
  7. The amount of work that I do have
  8. Synchronicity
  9. The Empowerment Community Garden
  10. Skype
  11. Space heaters
  12. THE INTERNET
  13. The relative choice, safety & stability of being American and middle class
  14. Hotel Café
  15. May 18-July 31
  16. July 11
  17. Os Brasileiros
  18. $6000 worth of support
  19. Marianne Williamson
  20. Akachan, Japanese for baby and my nickname for my (Japanese) car
  21. Flip-flop weather in November
  22. Wanderlust
  23. The seed of patience I’m growing
  24. Kindness
  25. The Best Thing I Ever Ate/Diners, Drive-ins and Dives/Unique Eats

*One of the things I loved about being a dance major is that the studio is a safe place to fail. And you do fail, over and over and over again, but you learn how to do it gracefully and how to build on failure and move on. I can’t afford to take dance classes with that level of frequency anymore but I am finding the kitchen to be a similar space. Somewhere I can go to express things I can’t put words to and a place to fail and learn from my mistakes.
