An observation inspired by Kanye West, Marianne Williamson and something my mother said to me this morning

You can either fundamentally believe that people are better than their mistakes or not. I am of the opinion that if you want someone to do differently, to do better, then you have to give them the space in which to do it. You have to let go. Especially when that person has sincerely acknowledged and apologized for that error. Given that we all make mistakes don’t we all desire to be forgiven? It seems selfish and hypocritical to me to deny that which you would ask for.

If you’re dwelling on something old, then you’re not ready to receive anything new. How could you be? Where would you put it?

We need to remember to extend to people the compassion and grace we’d want them to extend to us and allow them space to grow into the people we know they are capable of being.
